    Am trying to help Alan out with his Kent ancestors. Have found a marriage, your thoughts please as to what Frances surname is. Her signature is down the bottom as well.

    Having Kent ancestors myself, I am used to seeing the surname in various flourishing forms :rolleyes:

    That's the trouble I saw it as Kent and it has been transcribed as Kent, but Alan has Ghent! I can see it could be Ghent!:eek: It's in 1801.

    I read 'Kent' too.

    Also, note Frances's signature where the capital K appears joined up.

    Interesting that the 'k' looks just like it is giving a little kick. Did your kids all learn the difference between curly 'C' and kicking 'k'?
