I've just noticed that Ancestry have added this range of dates to their existing database which already covers 1858-1966.

Me too, and just had occasion to use it :). Slightly different to the Probate Calendar I am used to seeing, doesn't mention to whom probate was awarded, and doesn't have a precise value but a "not exceeding" figure (rather like the early probates)

There is also the Gov.UK site Find A Will:

    https://
    probatesearch.service.gov.uk/#wills

which has 1858 to 1996, 1996 to present day, and soldiers' wills (between 1850 and 1986)

This is headed "Beta" and I am not sure it is complete for 1996 to the present day. I have recently had occasion to search for wills of several people who might have left one (not relatives, just out of interest) and none of them came up. I have dealt with the estates of 3 people in that period, all of whom left a will for which I was executor, and only one is listed.

    All the best.

Highlight the link and copy it to your address bar, it should work.
    Code:
