According to the 1911 census, Patrick McCOLGAN came from Magilligan, County Derry. His wife, Sarah, has a place in County Down against her entry. At first, I thought that this was Kilbeck, but the only Kilbeck that I can find is in County Wexford. I have just been rummaging through GENUKI and the nearest that I can see would be Kilkeel. Ref: RG14, PN22130, RD453, SD1, ED14, SN107 Thoughts please. Thanks.
If you are sure.... I am guessing a bit as I can only look at free stuff.. Poss Sarah and Patrick in 1891. Son Dominic from 1891 census, mmm Morgan. Marriage of this Patrick and Sarah in 1882. Sarah Morgan b Ireland in 1881, father Patrick , schoolmaster Young brother Hugh b Ireland 1874 Hugh's birth cert on Irish genealogy site, b Kilkeel ,parents Patrick Morgan school master and Bridget Haughin. Sarah Morgan b1857 is in index on FMP b Kilkeel, also in Ulster Historical Foundation index, parents Patrick and Bridget . So can be viewed for free on national library of Ireland's Catholic registers for free - I assume! - you would have to browse the registers. Patrick Morgan and Bridget Haughan's marriage also in UHF index. Hope that makes sense!
[Great avatar Arthur- love the scooter] I don't suppose he was also from Kilkeel, just to stay on thread?
No, but I can get fairly close. The picture is of my father, presumably at about 4-5 years old, and his father was orphaned when very young and brought up by his grandparents in Tandragee, about 25-30 miles from there. A better connection may be that Patrick McColgan was from Magilligan, Co. Derry, which is where my father was stationed in WW2 - I changed the avatar a day or two before Jan started the thread, and this just happened to be my first post afterwards.
