Haven't we already done that on GS? :)

It's been a bad time -- OK - if Ive missed something I'll accept admonishments but I feel a new competition is in order for our newly acquired members to join in.

    So let's have some ideas

Well I'm not really sure if we have already "done that on here" which is why I asked the question, if we haven't it's not a bad idea Artful. :)

I'm at the moment wading through all my "likes you've received" to ascertain whether or not, started in reverse order at page 61 and I'm now at page 42, already checked "Your content".

Well Artful I can't find a reference to "Why did we begin our research?" anywhere but I now have a thought ricocheting around my head (plenty of space there) that perhaps it might have been in one of Jan's blogs, so not easy to come across (I think).

So perhaps your idea is a 'good un'. :)

Not sure we are up for another competition at this point in time. Will chat with Jan.

Thank you for the suggestion, Colin, and yes, it is a while since we had a competition. I was thinking that we might have one towards the end of next month as it will be a year since Genealogy Specialists went live.

However, the subect of Why did we begin our research? has been covered before, not only by me (in my Introduction) but also by others to a greater or lesser degree in their introductions.

I also mentioned it in this blog, so you were correct - and it is nice to know that what I burble about is sometimes remembered! :D.

I will have a think and discuss it with Doug, Sue and Terry and then come back to you.

By the way, Colin - we cannot have a competition without a prize, so I will look into that as well.

A return ticket to England would be nice! Or vice-versa for those of you who already live there. Surely British Airways would like to contribute to a worthy cause? :D

GS would be crossing everything that the prize was not won by someone in Oz or NZ;)

I guess it is always good for the winner to have a choice - within reason of course! - perhaps a voucher to further our genealogical studies.

Since I started this thread and feel a desire to assist, may I suggest a 'whip round' to raise an ante for the prize? My limited pension will allow me to contribute $10.00 towards such an effort.

We now have 650 members supporting TOP DOG and who benefit fro a free site. If each of us paid $10.00 [or a similar amount of currency] into the kitty then these prizes for future competitions could easily be purchased.

This is not going to happen.

We do not charge for using this forum - it is free to register and free to use. We will not accept donations either as that will be against the whole ethos of Genealogy Specialists.

We will continue to fund the prizes and the competions will be held when we want to hold them.

I consider the subject now closed.
