I thought I had James Kelly sorted. I have had help and I thought I had him on every census and they are more or less tally with his birth on 23rd Sept 1948 in St Giles Middlesex.
I have James's first marriage to Jemima Stannard at Haverstock Hill on 4th July 1875 and the information matches.
I have identified four children of this marriage
    James Samuel Kelly born 1877
    Robert John Kelly born 1880
    Ellen Sarah Kelly born 1885
    Arthur Kelly born 1889.

James's wife Jemima dies shortly after Arthur's birth in 1889.
James then remarries on 8th Aug 1897 to a widow Fanny Gardiner at all Saint's Battle Bridge. Fanny is an older lady.
    James dies in 1902.

I should be happy but something is niggling me and that is another family I have picked up. I found a census for another James Kelly in 1901. RG13 Piece 256 Folio 59 page 8 .
This James is slightly younger by five years and is married to Dinah from Devon. They seem to have four children and where I got alarmed was, where three of these daughters give their father as James Kelly (deceased) a printer's labourer. So much coincidence. By 1911 Dinah is a widow, another coincidence. The houses and residences are around the area that my family lived, sometimes the same roads.
I am just feeling unsettled by this family and wonder if I have something wrong. Can anyone help or suggest anything.
I am happy with the information I have on my James Kelly but would like to work this other impostor out.
    With Thanks

Aimee had you sorted births/Baptisms & sibs for your James. Were you confident of the children's names being what you expected as 'known' or were you working blind on unknown Family?
I can't just remember original post & must away in a minute for the day's real start.
edit: looking at FreeBMD- many James Kelly entries to choose from, Do you have marriages & Fathers of groom etc-trades & censuses.sorry if I make you look like a beginner, but there are so many to choose from. :(

James, Dinah and children can be followed through censuses. In 1901 James is an engine fitter, 1891 printers labourer, when he married Dinah Baker in 1885 he was a soldier.

Thanks, yes Wendy I do have my four children and most certificates etc. I feel confident they are mine. As for James siblings I have most of these too. What I think I should do is find the impostor's marriage to Dinah and get that, to see where this man fits in and then look at impostor's children if necessary. Thanks Mealymoo I will look at this marriage. I am convinced something is not right.
I thought possibly my James had a younger brother who also went by the name James but my James only had one younger brother dying young.
I don't know why it worries me so much but everything about it is odd and my instinct says worry about this:(. Thanks again.

What's the name and occupation of your James father?

Edited to add: found your James' marriage; different father's name with different occupation.

I need to wake up a bit more!
Mealymoo where did you find out James Kelly married Dinah Baker and he was a soldier? Did you see any census before 1891. Sorry for so many questions.
    Thank you for your help.

It's on FMP, Amle. Also his army service records are on FMP, I think I saw a census record for him pre 1891, not certain, I'll take a look.

    Thanks Wendy.
I don't why I am worrying so much.
When two of 'impostor' James daughters married I recognised the addresses. Apart from Mildred the names are family names and I know very common too.
I must be getting a touch of paranoia!

I don't have a sub at present to FMP. Will have to wait until after Christmas. Can you possibly tell me who this other James's father was and his occupation? Don't worry if you can't. Thanks again

I couldn't help but notice the other day when I was prowling about, that one of Dina's dtrs married the chap who along with his Father owned the bld mentioned as residence in the dtrs marriage.- Is that right?
I googled in those blds & found info on who owned bought them in 1905, City of London owning the other one.
Also (not having done so before) I keyed in on Ancestry's ''London electoral Registers" just the name of bldgs & up came everyone who lived there in a particular year. Not quite so neat with just a street addy tho.

Thanks. I will look at that Wendy. I don't know much about this family but moe than anything it was the addresses that were worrying me.
