I'm looking for anyone with information on my 7th great-grandfather Caleb Jones. He was born 1712 somewhere in Wales (possibly Holt, Denbigh, Wales) and died in 1784. He was buried 14 January in Holt, Denbigh, Wales.
His son Richard Jones (my 6th great-grandfather) born 12 April 1740 in Holt, Denbigh, Wales migrated to America in about 1780.
Looking for a Jones in Wales is like finding a needle in a haystack. I'm hoping I can find the information I'm looking for on this forum.

We know the burial gives a date of 14th January 1784. It says he was of the parish of Overton, Denbighshire.

There is a birth for another son (besides your Richard) Caleb, son of Caleb and Elizabeth in 1742. Young Caleb died in 1743.

All I can find is a Caleb Jones baptised in 1693 in Llanrhaiadr, Denbighshire, Wales on Family Search.

FindmyPast (pay per view site) have the parish registers of Holt available to view online for around the period when your Caleb would have been born/baptised but quite a few of the entries are barely legible which could explain why searching for him on FMP's search engine does not bring up any hits.

There do seem to be several male JONES's having children in Holt from 1700 onwards, so unfortunately you would appear to have quite a choice of prospective fathers for your Caleb.

Can't give you much information re these baptisms because of the terms and conditions of FMP but Caleb snr was shown as of Escoyd in the baptismal record of son Caleb.

Thank you for this information. I had Caleb's DOB in 1712 (obviously incorrect).

Thank you for the information! What does "as of Escoyd" mean?

"as of Escoyd" means he was from the parish of Escoyd. Escoyed is I think an incorrect spelling of Isycoed, Denbighshire.
