Lily V Pelham, born 1906, of 3 Date Street, Southwark. Well I've got as far as 'Food' but what comes after that? Any help appreciated.
Well I get 'Food Contractor's' the first letter of the next word I see as 'L' it's the same as in her name Maybe Labaler = labeller Probably totally wrong.
My first thought was labourer, but not a term usually used for women. I am not convinced about Contractor's either. I came up with Food Container Tin's Labeler
I am swinging towards 'labeller' on this one. Labelling tins/packaging is also something I would see a female doing. I can't see the whole image so can't read what comes before.
Thank you MollyMay. Now I can see too. Not that it helps with an answer though. If it wasn't for those strokes above I would say 'condiments' but they are very clear pen strokes.
"Condiments Jars Labeler" I think there are too many letters to be 'contractors' Shrugging smilie.......
I don't think it's condiments, but then I'm not sure it's contractors. Having said that I have nothing to offer!
Well thank you all for trying. I think we can safely say she was labelling some sort of food, but what it was might remain a mystery. I'm sure she was jolly good at it anyway!
Sorry, MM, only just back in the room. Trying to get away from 'Custard Jars Labeller'. Once in the head, it's very difficult to think otherwise. Any long-established companies in that area, I wonder, that could give us a further clue? I've tried a couple of links but they can't be found, which is always the way.
How about Food - Contents Jars Labeler? (Seems a bit over-specific, but I don't know what the instructions were.)
