    I can't find this family after 1871.
William and Jenipher Ellery in 1871 were living at Piece: RG10/2279 Place: St Clements -Cornwall Enumeration District: 21
Civil Parish: Perranzabuloe Ecclesiastical Parish: -
    Folio: 35 Page: 20 Schedule: 104
    Address: Perranwell
    Children were:
    Richard age 5.
    John 3.
    Mary Jane 1.
I believe that Jenipher/Jenifer was a daughter of Johnson and Mary (nee Williams Rule.
Jenifer was born in Gwithian and I have sent for the 1863 marriage certificate.

Opc also has an emigration to Australia in 1879 of a Jenifer Ellery age 41. Time to call in our Aussie sleuths!

As your family left Perranwell for Australia in 1879 arriving 27 Oct 1879 I wonder if this is anything to do with your William Ellery.

    Throwing it out there.

    Royal Cornwall Gazette - 11 July 1879
    TO BE SOLD
By Private Contract, two good four-roomed DWELLING HOUSES with convenient OUT HOUSES, and above 2½ acres of good meadow land, situated in Parranwell, Perranzabuloe, held under a lease determinable on three lives 45, 40 and 35 years respectfully - Apply Mr William Ellery, Parranwell, Perranzabuloe.

Sorry. Just came across this thread...
Looks as though most of the family settled at Lithgow. Lithgow is a coal mining town in a very cold valley on the western side of the Blue Mountains about 140 kilometres west of Sydney.
William Henry married Esther Cohen in 1907 at Marrickville (Sydney)
He died at Lithgow age 65 in 1941.
Richard it appears died in Drummoyne (Sydney) in 1924, he married Sarah Strickland in 1886 in Lithgow.
William (Dad) appears to have died in 1906 in Lithgow.
John died in 1891 at South Bowenfels (Lithgow) Father is given as William but mother as Jane, so may not be him but I think it is.
Jenifer I can't find anywhere. Yet.

Lithgow General Cemetery has a burial for a Prudence G Ellery in 1922. She is 93 years of age. Nothing else is known of her. NSW BDM has her with father Samson (Johnson??? close!!) and mother Jenifer. What do you think.
I am wondering if this could be the missing Jenifer. Long shot but the age is only out a little bit and Jenifer Ellery is no where to be found. No death, no burial and no late marriage.

I have found Jenefor in the 1851 census with parents James and Mary:
    HO107, piece 1916, folio 527, page 5

Although relationships are not shown in 1841, it does look as though her brother was named Johnson. :)

After your post I searched and found the manifest. Poor Frederick.
I think that I was given the wrong information about the father of Jennifer.
    As to my first post:
I think that he was James and not Johnson, but I will have to check again.
    This Jenifer had various spellings.
The marriage certificate will be here next week and that will shed light as to whether she is the correct Rule.

Not her. Prudence and her family emigrated on the Samuel Plimsol in 1878 although they may have been related to your Ellery's.

Frederick Ellery death registered NSWBDM 9970/1879 Marine
    Father William mother Jane. (Jenifer)
Death of Jane Ellery NSWBDM 13115/1928 West Maitland.
    Trove...
Death of an old resident at her daughters residence, Mrs Harry McKellar. Came to Australia from Cornwall in 1877. Lived for 40 years in Lithgow with her husband Richard. This is supposed to be William, Richard was her son.
Marriage of Ethel Ellery to Henry McKellar...I have no idea where she came from as I cant find a birth.
So it seems that Jenifer was known as Jane even on her son Fredericks death registration.

The Maitland Daily Mercury Sat 30 Jun 1928
'The death occurred this afternoon of Mrs Jane Ellery, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs H McKellar of Bourke Street, West Maitland. The late Mrs Ellery, who was a native of Cornwall (England) was 89 years of age. She came to Australia in the year of 1877 and settled in Lithgow, where she resided till about 10 years ago, wither she came to Maitland. Mrs Ellery had been in ill-health for the past month and was an inmate of the Maitland Hospital until Wednesday last. Of a family of four sons and one daughter, only one son and daughter survive. These are Mr William Ellery of Lithgow and Mrs McKellar of West Maitland. The funeral will take place on Monday afternoon, moving from her daughters residence at 2 o'clock for the Congregational Cemetery, East Maitland.'

There is an Ethel Ellen Ellery registered Sept 1879 St Colum, Cornwall.
The Strathleven arrived 27th October 1879 so Ethel it seems was born just before departure. I wonder why she wasn't included on the manifest though.
