Any suggestions please deciphering the Christian name 3rd on list? Transcribed as Frank. 1881 census RG11/541/59/18.
Well I think it's Frank. Looking at the way the enumerator writes an "a" as the second letter of a name (on other pages - and 'Fanny' on this current page) I would say the second letter in this name is not an 'a'. I think it's an 'r'.
I think it's Frank also. Unfortunately this is the only evidence he existed. I was hoping he had been mis-transcribed but I couldn't think of any names that might fit. Thank you.
Have you discounted this birth? Lambeth registration district (Lambeth used to be in Surrey), September quarter 1871, volume 1d, page 307, Francis John SHELLEY
It's in my shoebox. So far I haven't found any evidence to connect him to the family of Adolphus Charles Shelley. Frank is proving very elusive. If Adolphus's 1911 census is accurate, Frank should still be alive in 1911. I've eliminated the Frank Edmund Shelley b in St George in 1871.
It is frank and Frank moved to live in America. Edith also called Minie moved to Australia and then New Zealand then back to Australia where she died Beatrice died I know this because this is my family.
Is this Frank or another child? Walter Francis J Shelley, son of A.C. SHELLEY and Miriam DAWES was born in London, England on the 27th January 1872. (Source: Who's Who on the Pacific Coast 1913) He married Jennie (Baldwin) Hopkins, b. 1873(?) in Canada, in Alameda, California on the 29th January 1891. (Source: Index to Californian marriage certificates). On his profile he claims he married in Jan 1892. I have been unable to find a birth in London or emigration records. Walter's profile states he graduated from Birbeck University, London, in 1891 and also attended St Stephen's College in London. According to census records he emigrated in either 1888/9. In 1914 Jennie B Shelley, widow, was living with her son and daughter in N. Coronado. However, Walter was very much alive and they were together again in 1930. I haven't found the family in 1920 nor a death for Walter and Jennie.
