If you're looking for records of Trinity College alumni, you may be interested to know that digital images of 'Entrance books' 1637-1910 and 'Indices to entrance books' 1750-1896 can be browsed here: https://www. tcd.ie/Library/manuscripts/collections/genealogy.php Check the indexes first to get an admission date and then you should be able to find the right entry in the entrance book. The volume I looked at had the following columns, to begin with anyway: Christian name (sometimes in Latin) Surname Qualitates - qualities: most are marked S.C. (which I think stands for Socius Comitatus or fellow-commoner) or Pens. (Pensioner) Father's first name Father's 'quality' Loca Nativitatum - birthplaces Tempora Admissionum - dates/times of admission Age (in years) at admission Ludimagistri - schoolmasters Tutores - tutors Later on in the same volume, the entries became more heavily abbreviated but information on religion also began to be included: abbreviations include Pr./Prot. and R.C. The printed volume Alumni Dublinenses: a register of the students, graduates, professors and provosts of Trinity College in the University of Dublin (1593-1860) is also online: http:// digitalcollections.tcd.ie/home/index.php?DRIS_ID=LCN10378529_0003 These are just a tiny part of a real treasure trove of digitised material from Trinity College.
