Arthur Moore

This is a long shot, but if you could actually determine where the photo was taken it might help. Try looking up any addresses you have for the family about the right time and then do a search for them. If the roads still exist then there should be pictures on-line which you could compare to the photo (even if they don't still exist there may be archived pictures.) As I say, a very long shot but it could just help.
 
If the Arthur in the 1939 register did marry and Nel brought children Enid and boy Harold then the abt 6mth old baby in the pram (noted by my Dad as Deaf and Dumb) must be Arthur's but I hv not been able to find a marriage for Arthur to a Nel and name variations mid 40's

Thanjs AnnB I hv seen old pics and done Google Earth walkabouts of the various streets my GGP and family lived from census and docs addresses and they were all in Bootle. Of the 6 children my GGP had 3 continued to live in Bootle until mid 60's.
In 20yrs I hv not had any contact with any Moore descendants I did not already know so I hv bought DNA kits for me my husband and daughter not sure if that will blast the Moore brick wall or even if I will understand the results but will keep me out of mischief for a while

Ooh, a DNA kit could certainly bring up some surprises.

My GGF never married, but he had two relationships with four children from the first and five from the second. The second family has well-documented trees on Ancestry but they don't know that the first family (us) even existed. It could even be a situation like that, but - Bootle was/is a close-knit community so I imagine secrets might be hard to keep.

And then, maybe Nell wasn't an Ellen or a Helen or an Eleanor at all... perhaps it was just a nickname.
 
Hi @HildaW, I have been searching on and off for most of the day, it’s Saturday and hubby is watching cricket, and I’m getting nowhere. So I thought I might go back through your thread history (hope you don’t mind) for any hints at all. Then I came across a thread for Thomas Moore and Eliza Kennedy where it’s stated that they were born in NI (Northern Ireland?) and married in Canada and all their children were born in Liverpool. Is it at all possible that the subjects of your enquiry may have all come from Northern Ireland, being distant relatives?
Maybe a wild idea but who knows.

Marriage certificate on Family Search but I think you already have that. I'm getting off track a bit I know but just trying to maybe tie some stranded threads together.
Another thought! From research all Thomas' brothers went to Canada as well. Did they all come back to England or could this 'Uncle Arthur' have been born in Canada and brought family back.?

However, she was a first cousin! I can only assume that because she was much older than myself, Dad being the youngest of seven, that she felt more comfortable with me calling her 'auntie'. Even now, I can't think of her as being anything other than my aunt! Strange. Dad even reminded her that she wasn't my aunt, at my wedding, but the Christmas cards continued from 'Aunt Betty'... So, perhaps it wasn't unusual?

A friend here in Australia has an "Aunty" in England who is two years younger than him!
