Could someone help with the cause of death of John Day, someone has rather helpfully (NOT) circled one of the words. Also the occupation of the informant SM Flannery of Nenagh Workhouse

Flannery would probably be the Nenagh Workhouse Governor

Came across this on a facebook group page

The categories of people who could notify a birth were the parents, or if they couldn't then the occupier or tenant of the house, a nurse or other person present at the birth.
The 1863 legislation says: "Occupier" shall, for the Purposes of the Notification of Births and Deaths for Registration under this Act include the Governor, Keeper, Master, Superintendent, or other chief Resident Officer of every Gaol, Prison, or House of Correction, and of every School, Reformatory, Workhouse, Hospital, Lunatic Asylum, or other Public or Charitable Institution, and where any House is let in separate Apartments or Lodgings shall include the Person under whom such Lodgings or separate Apartments are immediately held, and any Agent or Servant of such Person residing in such House:

It was. Mr E M Flannery was the Master, as mentioned on the Workhouse website. There is a report of the Workhouse buildings being burnt down in 1923 by Republican forces in the Nenagh Guardian of 10th February. There is a transcription here:
