Hey my dad has just done a DNA test on ancestry.com and found that he's 98.1 % British, no Scotland, Ireland ext just British ( with second highest % nation being African). Just wondering how this is possible after googling and seeing that the average Brit is only 34% British. Any answers would be sweet!

Welcome to the forum, Lew! :)

To be honest, I have seen so many differing results of the same test from different providers, that I really no longer know what to think. o_O I have even seen the test produce different results from the same provider!

Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer to see documentary sources rather than DNA results but there are folk who have a completely different opinion to me.

This should prove to be an interesting discussion! :D

Welcome, Lew! C|:-) Huh. A quick question with no quick answer. o_O I would say the results your Dad got are very "high" level and not detailed at all. Sounds more regional than national. Unless he can "drill-down" each wedge of the pie, then he should get a refund. As useful as - um, you're human. ;)

I have read so many differing reports on this topic. Most seem to agree that testing improves & changes as these scientific folk proceed with their work.

Has anyone ever seen it written that Britain was first occupied by races with very dark skin? it infers that every one of that nation has a dribble of colour. Also with all of the globe trotting of past relations we could all be a bit of everyone.
Gods melting pot?
