Thank you for the offer of help! To save on your and others’ time and efforts, I should list the sources and info I already have
- Isaiah Samuel Shanks’ birth record in Box Hill, Victoria in 1866, parents John Shanks and Sarah Magill (Vic Civil BDM ref 19857/1866)
- various references in newspapers (via Trove) to John Shanks, storekeeper and contractor of Box Hill and later Ringwood, Victoria during the 1860s-1904. Ditto references to Isaiah Samuel Shanks’ siblings and his mother’s obituary in 1899.
- Probate and will info available online from the Victorian Public Records Office for:
*John Shanks (d.1904)
*Sarah Elizabeth Jane Shanks (Isaiah’s sister) (d.1934)
* Administration of the estate of Arthur Magill, of Camperdown, Victoria who died 26 September 1901, intestate. Arthur Magill was the brother of Sarah Magill, Isaiah’s mother. He died unmarried and without children, and his estate admin file lists his surviving relatives as his sisters Jane Drenning (widow) of Wangaratta, Victoria, Ellen Barker of 28 Stanley St Richmond Victoria, Mary Wilson of 4 Charles St Portadown, County Armagh, Ireland, Ann Wilson of Sandy Row County Armagh, and the children of his deceased sister Sarah Shanks nee Magill, namely Mary Ann Fuller, Thomas Shanks, Sarah Shanks, John Shanks, Eleanor Brown, Louisa Shanks, George Shanks and Isaiah Shanks.
