How Do You Do

How do you do, everyone:
I, too, took advantage of the Parish Chest recommendation and am now registered on this welcoming site. NW Kent and Bucks are of special interest in terms of my surnames, but the tangents of genealogy also intrigue me---you know, occupations (“town crier’s wife) or nonconformist history; those subjects we come across when trying to add dimension and stories to our ancestors’ names and dates.
I am in the States (Wisconsin), and certainly would try to help anyone with States-related genealogy. However, both my maternal and paternal sides were relatively recent immigrants (early decades of the 1900s)---most of my research is in the UK or Poland.
Best Regards,
Yeates

Welcome to Top Dog Yeates. C|:-)
Kent is also one of my areas of interest. I know we have several members with knowledge there.

It would be useful if you could try and put your location into your profile, just so we don't advise you to spend a day at The National Archives. You would need a bit more than a packed lunch. ;)

Have a good look around, post your questions and most of all enjoy yourself.

Thank you, Mutters. I thought I had indicated my location but your post caused me to check, and sure enough, I hadn't.....true, a visit to TNA would necessitate a packed lunch and swimming that pesky ocean. I am in the States. ---Yeates

Welcome to our rapidly growing community, Yeates.

I think we have met before, in another place, where we talked about wooden shovels, amongst other things! I have changed my name since then, but you may recognise my avatar.

I look forward to going off on more genealogical tangents with you. :)

Yes, indeed! Wooden shovels--still of great interest to me. If plans become reality, I should be gazing at one in the Chesham Museum at this time next year. Good to meet you again.
