John George Tyrell

I am not sure I dare post this as it links to a recent post of mine Theresa Connell who had married Ernest Meyer in 1876 and we were trying to find out what happened after that.
Now I am looking at Theresa's sister Sarah Connell who also married in 1876 and the same thing, the husband never turns up again! I have a feeling this one may be a bit harder but thought it was worth putting to the experts for their valued opinion.

John George Tyrell, 21, Bachelor, Sculpture, 15 Hawley Road West, Father Thomas Tyrell, Coach Maker.
Sarah Connell, 24, Spinster, ---. 15 Hawley Road West, Father John Connell, Tailor.

Married on the 4 Dec 1876 at The Parish Church, Holy Trinity, Haverstock Hill.JGT.jpg

Again I don't know what happened to John George Tyrell I think I have found Sarah (although not convincingly). A possible 1911 census, if it's her, says she was widowed and had two children both dead Class: RG14; Piece: 2060.
It all seems a strange coincidence to me.

So far out here Elizabeth, not having found the males said to have married the Connell Girls, I wondered if they did so to have them appear married in English churches having come from a Catholic background? -I know...too far out. :(
One John George Tyrrell b.1855 Hoo, Kent to Thomas & Jane but married to another lady on 'trees'- Phillis Ann Tassell in 1883.
Marriage Date:8 Sep 1883
Marriage Place: St. Paul'S, Chatham, Kent, England
not looked at City Ark for this yet.

2 births for a John George:
Tyrrell John George Camberwell 1d473
Births Mar 1855
Turrell John George Medway 2a-273
No obvious Sussex ones.

Thanks they were catholic Wendy! The Camberwell birth may be a possibility for John George Tyrrell. I will go off and look up that family tree too, thank you (perhaps I had better get up first though)!

What is cityark?
It's this absolutely wonderful part of the Medway, Kent government website called Cityark (Medway Ancestors) and has heaps and heaps of Kent original parish registers that you can view for absolutely nothin':D

This is getting very interesting following this thread, not having anything to contribute but this........
I'm wondering if these two men married these sisters for convenience sake...simply to appear married.....
What I'm trying to say or ask is......were these places, St Martins Lane etc Bohemian?

There is a couple John and Sarah Tyrell who appear together on 1881 and 1891 census'. They have daughters Ethel 1877 and Mable 1880 both born St Pancras. In 1901 They appear again but only with John, their father. This is John Tyrell, zoo keeper born Hedingham. Residence is Hawley Road.

Just to rule the above out and probably the Sarah Tyrell death in 1893 post #14, the 1881 census also mentions Elizabeth Clark, mother. There is a marriage in Pancras Sept 1874 of John Tyrell to Sarah Clark 1b 213

If Thomas Tyrrell was John G.'s brother, he was quite a prestigious sculptor. Take a look at

Wow thanks Mealymoo, this looks so promising, now my brain is in overdrive. Who are the Lawton's. I feel the name is familiar and as for a connection with Berkshire, it looks like Sarah's brother in law was there when he was charged with murder. I have just woken up and you've all been working hard whilst I was away, thank you. I'll have to wake up fast.
