He who cleans up after his ancestors...
Thanks for inviting me to join your new forum which I am delighted to do. Before telling you about myself may I mention that when I clicked on the link in the email I received from Jan it took me to a Facebook page warning me that I was leaving their site. I tried several times and the same thing happened. I don't have a Facebook account and wasn't anywhere near a Facebook page at the time. I had to copy and paste the address into my browser and even that was harder than usual as it kept wanting to take me back to Facebook. Enough said.

I have been researching family history, mine and others (purely as a hobby) for around 10 years. I continue to learn from other better genealogists and have been helped a number of times by friends on this new forum, albeit using a different one. I have lived in North Hampshire for nearly 40 years although I was born and raised in Leicester (Tigers - Champions - yes!). Most of my historical family came from the three East Midlands counties, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and possibly Rutland (still to be proved to my satisfaction).

My main family lines are Vines, West, Cross and King. I am also researching the Harrold clan, my wife's family who also came from Northamptonshire.

Enough from me. I look forward to helping where I can and being helped from time to time.

cheers
Tony

PS. Why does my profile box say I'm offline? I think that I am online. Maybe I'm only a figment of my imagination!

Hi Tony

I got the facebook page as well so a bit of a mystery - still you've made it and good to have another old face on board.

Hi Tony,

Good to reacquaint with you here. I'm struggling with who is who (some) but recognised your name immediately. Have fun here it's a lovely, friendly place to be.

Good Evening Tony and welcome. C|:-)

Thanks for the note regarding the facebook problem. It maybe that the Daft Bat has been so busy there is still a small pile of ironing in the corner left to do. ;).

You will find lots of exciting changes on this forum and it may take a while to adjust to the new surroundings.

Take your time and have a read of the help pages, any problems, just shout.

Good Luck and enjoy.

Hi Tony and Liane. Great to see you both.

It's a crazy community but it's fun, plus the amount of assistance waiting to be handed out is huge.

Thank you for all your welcoming messages. I recognise and am pleased to see several other refugees from another site we all subscribe(d) to. I haven't given up there yet but it is clear that the number of posts has lessened recently. You've all obviously been too busy starting up here.
I look forward to being part of this community.
cheers
Tony

That was B4, this is the here and now and the future.
I hope we will go from strength to strength, it's an exciting challenge for us all.

We are the early settlers, just like many of our ancestors we are braving a journey into the new world. I am sure you will be a great help Tony. ;)

Hello Tony and Liane,

I apologise for the Facebook link - it appears that I picked up part of the Facebook url which then became hidden in the Top Dog link that I sent to you.

I have no idea how that happened, but please accept my apologies.

Hi Tony,

Lovely to see you here.

Hopefully you experienced the only glitch we have in going live. :)

Hi Tony and welcome to the new forum where you'll find lots of familiar people.
It's so nice to see you here :)

Thank you all again for all the friendly welcoming messages. No problem Jan (the Facebook link). I thought you ought to know about it however.

cheers
Tony
